The unknown evil side of Science Park...

I was really amazed when I read the first page of this document, I never knew that science park, one that is so close to us would do something like that. I was more amazed to know how deadly this factory had been, since I used to go to school around there. After reading this article, I realized that what i wanted to talk about was how IT industries has impacted local, mainly the toxic problem, Simply because this is the one I can make most connections with. I wasn't surprised when I read this sentence " in fact, the news reporter who investigated these incidents was forced to change news route a month later after the lobby teams of IT industries pressured public media and agents." I am sad to say this but Taiwanese sometimes really embarrass me... from the government to last years president to everything... this case was only a small case compared to what's going on now... Like the government, it was funny how the best that those people could do was lie and pretend nothing happened... I was really shocked when I read about the fact that many importers didn't know what ingredients was inside the IC production. Talking about this, I remembered how when I used to go to NEHS for elementary, for casual days, the air in school would stink so much... Little did I know that that smell was and might have been the toxic waste...After thinking bout what I read, I realized how shocked I really was...That this well known corporation, science park, has an evil side... This made me stop at some questions...Are all corporations like this? Do all corporations have an evil side to it, despite that they are eco friendly and all that...

Nice that you brought up the experience of studying in NEHS, even though I didn't remember any weird smell when I was there. But since you mentioned it, now I kind of remember that there were some noises and sometimes people have to come into the school and do some clean up jobs.

I still don't think that they hid it... I mean, Wal-Mart couldn't hide it? A lot of the fast food restaurants couldn't hide it? Even 911?
So yea, I'm still unsure how people never knew what's behind the Science Park's scene...

Yes, our country is so terrible in some ways... Our media and government, very immature. My mom always says that she doesn't like Taiwanese people, even though she is one herself...

I didn't realize there was a smell in NEHS... Pollution is something that is barely noticeable until it's too late.

Your dad used to work in Science Park, right? Did he know about stuff like this, did he tell you?

...wow naive coco :p...yes always knew science park produced mass amounts of waste. Then again we encourage it dont we? We use computers and we consume the IT technology. It is quite sad. Eugene I am sure people knew, they just chose not to talk about it.I must say however, science park is the backbone of Taiwanese economy and the technology industry in Taiwan. For Science Park to go would be disastrous. Maybe that is why they do not talk about it. Really though, did you really think that Science Park did not produce toxic substances?
